Changing lives, societies and national economies by improving vision

Vision for a Nation is an unprecedented nationwide initiative to provide access to vision assessments, affordable glasses and a structured high-level referral system at local health centre level in Rwanda.

It is estimated that there are 285 million visually impaired people worldwide, yet 80% of all visual impairment can be avoided or cured. That’s 228 million people whose lives could be improved if only they had access to affordable eye care and eyewear.

We are working to provide universal access through sustainable nationwide programmes to transform the lives of millions of people, and the national economies of which they are a part.

Our first nationwide programme is underway in Rwanda where we are working in operational partnership with the country’s Ministry of Health to make affordable primary eye care services, including affordable glasses, locally available to the entire population.
